Getting started

What statements can it read?

Excel and PDF commission statements from licensees, insurers, lenders and platforms. Formats differ by supplier, so the honest answer is: send us a redacted sample of the statements you receive and we will tell you what is already supported and what would need work. We would rather do that before you buy than after.

How long does setup take?

A setup wizard walks you through business details, where your statements live and where the document library should go. The part that takes time is not the install, it is tidying up client name variants and setting up your groups — and you can do that gradually, because none of it changes your imported records.

Will it change or move my existing files?

It files imported statements into a managed library, moving and renaming them within that library. It never deletes a document and never overwrites one — a name clash gets a numbered suffix instead. Files it cannot read are parked where you can see them rather than skipped silently.

Does it work on a Mac?

Windows is the supported and sold platform. That is what is built for, tested on and warranted. If you are a Mac practice, tell us — it changes the priority, but do not buy on the assumption it is coming.

Do I need to be online?

No. Importing, analysis, reporting, exporting and licence checking all work with no internet connection. The only thing that needs the internet is the optional check for a newer version.

Your data

Where is my data actually stored?

In a database file on your computer, in a folder you choose, next to the document library of your statements. There is no vendor copy. See Your data for the full detail.

Can you see my clients?

No. Not through support, not through crash reports, not through analytics — none of which exist. If we ever need to see something to help you, you send it to us deliberately, and you choose what is in it.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

It stays yours, on your machine, and stays readable. An expired licence blocks new imports. Viewing, reporting and Excel export keep working, permanently.

What happens to my data if you go under?

Nothing changes on your machine. Your database, your document library and your installed program are on your own computer and do not depend on us existing. What you would lose is future parser updates and support — not access.

Should I back it up myself?

IncomeSync backs itself up and lets you nominate a second backup folder — use it, and point it at a different drive. Beyond that, whatever backup regime protects the rest of your practice should cover this too. It is your data on your machine, which cuts both ways.

Licensing

How does the licence work?

You are sent a licence key. It is tied to your business and to the computer it is installed on, and it carries an expiry date. It is checked on your own machine using cryptography, so there is no activation server to call and nothing to go down.

What if I replace my computer?

Email us and we will issue a replacement key for the new machine, dated to your existing expiry. Replacing a machine is a normal thing to do and is not treated as buying a second licence.

Can two of us use it?

A licence covers one computer and one user. For a second person, ask us — pricing for additional machines is quoted rather than published.

How do I pay?

Email sales@incomesync.com.au and we will invoice you. Your key is generated and sent once payment clears — usually the same business day.

Installing

Windows says the app is unrecognised. Is that a problem?

It means the installer is not yet code-signed, which is true and which we would rather tell you than have you discover. Windows shows that warning for any installer without a signing certificate, regardless of what the software does.

Signing is on the list. Until it is done, download the installer only from a link we sent you or from this website, and if anything about the file looks wrong, email us before running it rather than after.

Will it slow the machine down or need a server?

No server, no database engine to install, no IT project. It is a normal Windows program with its data in a single file.

How do updates work?

The program checks for a newer version and tells you if one exists. You choose whether to install it. The check is on by default and can be switched off, and it sends nothing about you or your data — see Your data.
